Story Telling

Oh Lawdy, I just came back from one of the best nights of my life. Well... No, there wasn't any drinking, drugs, or sex involved. My night was spent just telling and listening to stories with just a few friends.

I never thought that just talking would be so fun. What really surprised me was this one friend's ability to tell stories. Although he is quite shy in school, he was incredibly funny tonight and one of the driving forces of the talk. He told these stories that usually would not have been funny being told from an average person and made them specially funny using a unique sense of sarcasm, facial features and physical gestures.

He told at least six enthralling stories about meeting Vietnam War Vets in front of 7-11, getting into an accident with an old grumpy cop, almost dying during a college visit and many more. He really dominated the conversation and I was left wishing that I had the ability to weave such captivating anecdotes.

I think I want to start "practicing" telling stories but I have no idea how. Maybe I should go outside and try to get into an accident with a cop?

  1. He must be an introvert then, if you ask us something that we can really relate to and I mean RELATE to then we'd talk for ages lol.

  5. You don't even need to necessarily have crazy stories to be interesting. A good storyteller can take an average story and MAKE it awesome through body language, gestures and such. Speak slowly and dynamically. Then, speak even slower. Practice in a mirror if you really want to.

  6. I guess the good thing about when a catastrophe happens is at least you have a good story to tell.

    1. 'Tis good to hear from a fellow gentleman of a fine family line, my good sir. I have responded to your kind reaching out by in turn following your blog. I hope that this newly abridged friendship will extend into older stages of our lives.

  8. I don't this guy is that much of a story teller. I think he is more of a "guy who lives life to the fullest" maybe? The point is, I did not have many stories back in my early teens, when my only interest was WoW. When I decided to go out more often, I collected tons of stories to tell. Live life to the fullest guys!

    1. Haha. I've always liked the French saying, "Carpe Diem." But I do find it quite hard to "seize the day" in every day life, especially because in the back of my consciousness is always the thought of social norms and social taboos.
